JAMES J. JIMMERSON, ESQ.

Principal JAMES J. JIMMERSON is the  senior partner of the law firm of Jimmerson Hansen, P.C.  Mr. Jimmerson is a native Las Vegan.

Mr. Jimmerson attended George Washington University and Columbia Law School.  He was admitted to the Nevada Bar, the Nevada and U.S. District Court of Nevada in 1976; to the California Bar in 1977; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit in 1978; the U.S. District Court, Central District of California in 1981; and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1982.

He has authored several articles for legal periodicals on subjects ranging from business torts to family law and representation of celebrities and professional athletes.  Mr. Jimmerson also has served as a moderator and panelist for the American Bar Association’s annual meetings on business torts litigation and family law litigation, and has spoken throughout the United States on orthopedics and the law and on many subjects, including trial skills, cross-examination, and the art of taking depositions.

Mr. Jimmerson is a former long-time member of the State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors and served as a lawyer representative to Ninth Circuit Judicial Conferences.  He has been a Member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association, and has been selected to be in The Best Lawyers in America and Pre-Eminent Lawyers in Martingale-Hubbell.  He is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, and a member of the Family Law Section of the ABA.  Mr. Jimmerson also is a certified mediator and arbitrator for both the AAML and the American Arbitration Association.

LYNN M. HANSEN, ESQ.

Principal LYNN M. HANSEN received her legal education at McGeorge School of Law after receiving a Bachelor of Science - Nursing from the University of Maryland and a Masters from the University of Washington.  She served on, and was published in, the Law Review while attending McGeorge School of Law and was a staff writer for the Pacific Law Journal.

Ms. Hansen is also a former psychologist and registered nurse who has served on the faculty of Arizona State University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Ms. Hansen’s primary emphasis in her practice of law is Medical Malpractice Defense, Insurance Law and Health Care Law.

She is a member of the State Bars of Nevada (1985) and California (1984), the  U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit (1987) and the American Bar Association.  Ms. Hansen has formerly served as a member of the State Bar Disciplinary Committee, the Board of Bar Examiners and Nevada’s Medical Legal Screening Panel.

Ms. Hansen also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of USAA Savings Bank and is associated with the Nevada Law Foundation and the Association of Managed Care Lawyers.

MICHELE L. ROBERTS

Michele L. Roberts was born in Su-Won City, South Korea. Ms.Roberts received her B.S. in Political Science at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illnois. She received her J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 2000.  She relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003 from Chicago, Illnois.

Ms. Roberts is admitted to the State Bar of Nevada.  She is also admitted to the State Bar of Illnois (inactive); the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illnois (2000); and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit (2000).  She is a member of the Nevada State Bar and Clark County Bar Association.

Ms. Roberts specializes in a variety of areas, including family law, medical malpractice defense, civil litigation and employment law.

SHAWN GOLDSTEIN, ESQ.

Mr. Goldstein was born in Southern California and raised in Las Vegas where he attended Cimarron-Memorial High School.  Upon graduating 3rd in his class of over 750, he received several scholarships to UNLV where his academic excellence continued.  Mr. Goldstein received the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award in Psychology and graduated with a B.A. in the same. 

Mr. Goldstein attended Southwestern University School of Law where he was awarded the Paul W. Wildman Scholarship, the highest honor granted to an entering first-year student.  While attending Southwestern, Mr. Goldstein developed a passion for family law and was awarded the Max Goodman Scholarship for his excellence in the study of family law. 

After completing law school, Mr. Goldstein returned to Las Vegas to pursue his legal career.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada and the United States District Court, District of Nevada in 2006.  While at Jimmerson Hansen, Mr. Goldstein will focus his areas of practice on family law, civil litigation.

AMANDA J. BROOKHYSER

Ms. Brookhyser was born and raised in Las Vegas and attended Bonanza High School. Upon graduating she attended the University of Nevada, Reno and received her Bachelor’s Degree in English.

Ms Brookhyser attended law school at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. While in law school she excelled at oral advocacy, competing on the American Association for Justice Mock Trial team for two years, one of which her team competed at the National Competition. She was also awarded the Jeffrey and Elizabeth Goodman Distinguished Advocate award, which goes to the 3rd year law student who shows excellence and proficiency in oral and written advocacy and is voted on by the faculty. She also served as a student prosecutor for the Polk County Attorney’s Office. She was on the Dean’s List three years and served as the Associate Editor for the Drake Law School Agricultural Law Journal.

After Law School, Ms. Brookhyser returned to Las Vegas to pursue her legal career. She is admitted in the State Bar of Nevada.
